I bought my Surly Bridge Club in December 2023 while I was working at Olympia Cycle & Ski in Winnipeg, and it's turned out to be one of those bikes that's good at a little bit of everything.

I've ridden it through Canadian winters with studded tires and Bar Mitts, taken it onto singletrack and gravel roads, and used it as a commuter and everyday errands bike. It handles all of those jobs remarkably well.

One of the things I particularly like about the Bridge Club is its versatility. The steel frame and fork have plenty of mounting points for racks, bottle cages and just about anything else you might want to bolt onto an adventure bike. Set it up lightly and it's a fun bike for exploring gravel and trails. Load it with racks and gear and it's ready for considerably bigger adventures.

I've also paired mine with a Burley Coho XC trailer, which turns it into a seriously useful hauling setup for groceries, errands, camping gear or whatever else I need to drag along.

It's not a bike built to be the absolute fastest at one particular thing. That's kind of the point. The Bridge Club is a practical, durable, incredibly versatile bike that's equally happy commuting across town, riding through a Canadian winter or disappearing down a gravel road to see where it goes.

If I wouldn't use it myself, I won't recommend it to you.
